I've never actually made a pdf of anything before, so that might be a bit tough. I'm still going back to make edits as well, so I'm not very inclined to work on a downloadable copy yet.
Of course, anyone who knows how to do it can feel free to make a pdf of my translation, provided they give credit.
Oh man, thank you so much for translating Light Orchestra! So exited to read it! Do you think maybe in the future you might work on Grand Punk Railroad? Both novels have just been sitting around over a year, barely started.
Right now, I'm planning to focus on stories that haven't been covered in the anime. Grand Punk Railroad isn't much different from the anime in terms of content, so I'm sorry to say that I don't think I'll be working on it until volumes 12~16 are translated.
I DON'T KNOW HOW TO THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR TRANSLATING BACCANO ! I pray that u countinue you'r great work and give us the chance to finaly read this amazing Novel -_- we are waiting for you'r next update ^^ make that a quike one please lol ^^
Oh, thank you so much! I love Baccano! novels, so I really appreciate your hard work. You're awesome :)
I often print fully translated novels, so I edited your work, added pictures and created a PDF. I thought, that maybe there is someone, who would like to read it in that version, so here's a download link: http://www.filesonic.com/file/2060546421/Baccano_vol_11_(1705).pdf Hope you don't mind!
thank u so much for you'r hard work on V.12 of Baccano !! please keep up your passionate work on v.13 ^^
can i ask you something ?? u didn't translate the previous novels m is it becouse it have been already done by someone else ?? I know that Baka-tsuki is working on them .. but is there anyone else ? thank u so much
Anonspore (of Sporeblog) is working on volume 7, and he's already finished translating volume 5 and 6. I skipped everything before 1705 because it's either been fully translated, animated, or being worked on by an active translator.
Hey, thanks for your hard work, it's really hard find light novels translate, specially from Baccano!. Little question, are you going to translate A Man In the Killer? And even when baka-tsuki begin to translate Peter Pan in chains and Alice in jail, they haven't make any update in a while. Sorry for my bad english.
@ Anon: Man in the Killer hasn't been announced for Korean release yet, so I'm not sure--I might give it a try, but I think I'll prioritize the 1700s and 2000s for now.
As for 1934, I'm actually kind of avoiding it because it heavily features Graham, Christopher, Ladd, and the Poet--four characters whose dialogues give me a headache. But I think Anonspore or the people at Baka-Tsuki will get around to finishing it before I even start.
@ Strings: Yeah, those four are hard even to read, more so translate, for the amount of words that they use even just to introduce somebody, particulary the poet.
I'm eternally grateful for your translations (and your bias for pro-Elmer novels!). Have you read all Baccano novels? Does Elmer ever interact with Tick (or anyone in the Gandor family)?
@Una: I've read all the novels up to volume 15, but Elmer hasn't interacted with the Gandors yet. But he just might meet some of them in volume 16! I haven't read it yet, though, so I don't have much details.
Thanks for translating this. I recently watched the anime about a month back and loved it. After I learned the anime originated from the light novels I have been looking for translations. It's nice to come across fully translated volumes. I really enjoyed reading them. :)
since reading online is a pita made some quick epubs, no images tho, too lazy to make them look nice. 12: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=V6VTO445 13: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HPJ4SO1V
One of my favorite things of all time is Baccano. The fact that you're going out of your way to translate the novels that I thought frankly no one would bother to touch, makes you a super awesome person. Just thought I'd tell you that.
@Untuned Strings Hello. I want to thank you ahead for all the work that you have done, and I was curious about something.
I was wondering if it would be okay if Baka-tsuki links to you so that more people could read your work. If you Don't want them to display anything and just link other people directly here, that would be okay.
If you would allow them to place your translation on their site, they would link towards you (give you the credit).
If you don't want any affiliations with Baka-tsuki just say so.
Whatever you want is up to you. On a personal note. Could you work on Volume 2 whenever you have free time? I can't do anything to repay your favor, but we would be happy.
@Anon: I'd prefer just being linked directly to my blog on Baka-tsuki. :)
I'm thinking of working on volume 2 in the future, but I can't guarantee it will be soon. But if 1711 doesn't come out in Korean before it, 1931 will probably be the next Baccano project I tackle.
@Untuned Strings Thank you for your Concern. You do not need to consider anything. It's your choice. We really are just leechers. I will Let Baka-Tsuki know to they can add the link here, but not load your translation on their site.
can't beelieve u finished Baccano 15 this fast !! u r so great I can't say thank you enough !!
please consider doing the whole missing series in between 11 and 6 maybe i am not sure -_- i don't want to start reading then have no choice but to jump becuase there are no translation for the novels -_-
after reading 1710 i'm just kind of interested what happening to huey and monica after that did the story in 1711 - Whitesmile will also cover this? well btw thanks for your fast and amazing translation ><
Thanks for 1710. Glad to see you're doing Grand Punk Railroad. I'm very curious to see the differences with the anime. Anonspore has a post that suggests he's doing 1934 next, so you're off the hook :)
I really really really thank you for keep going on translating Baccano!
I just want to leave you a comment to encourage you to continue translating and never give up!! You´r making many people hhappy with your translations!!
You are god tier at translating, just so you know. This might be a tall order, since I'm not entirely sure if it's available to you, but have you considered translating any Durarara?
Thanks so much for these translations! I love light novels and I love Baccano and Kino. I haven't read any of the Baccano volumes yet because I'm a bit confused about which overlap with the anime (which I've seen four times), by how much and the best order to read in. Would someone mind clarifying? I have pdfs for 1930, 1932, 2001, 1933, 1934, 1705, 2002 A, B and 1710. I think this was the release order?
Also, is there any chance of you taking a look at Zaregoto for possible translation when you are done with your current plans? It's amazing but it doesn't have an anime so I can't see it attracting any attention otherwise.
The anime covers volumes 1~4 (1930, 1931, and 1932), but the events of 1932 were heavily altered. I suggest reading it even if you skip the earlier volumes. The three extra episodes of the anime also cover a bulk of volume 14 (Another Junk Railroad) as well.
In terms of reading order, you should probably go by release dates: 1930-1931-1932-2001-1933-1934-1705-2002-1931(Another Junk Railroad)-1710. Of these, only 1931(which I'm working on now), 1934(In progress at Baka-Tsuki) and Another Junk Railroad are not completely translated at this point, but it doesn't really spoil anything to skip them for now.
And right now I can't take on any more projects as I have my hands full. Sorry about that!
I started reading volume 1 but I think I'll wait for you to finish v3 so I can go through them together.
Just about to finish v5 (2001) and it's been awesome. I was content with the anime as-is but now I'm hoping for separate OVAs or movies...
I guess I should go from 1933 to 1705 and skip all of 1934 for now? I imagine all 3 volumes of 1934 should be read together. And what about ????: The illusional first and last episode?
Also, of course I wasn't suggesting you try to translate Zaregoto any time soon. I'm sure you are very busy as it is and will be for a while if you're planning on translating any baccano and kino stuff you can.
If you haven't read it before I highly recommend it! Two were officially released in English before Del Rey stopped releasing light novels. The first is great but the second takes it to another level and they are supposed to get even crazier.
You can find the raws here: http://vnsharing.net/forum/showpost.php?p=2802443&postcount=32
If you enjoy them as much as I think you will hopefully you'll keep them in mind in a year or two.
Thank you so much for translating Kino's Journey and Gakuen Kino! I really appreciate all the hard work this must take, and while I cannot read Japanese/Korean and thus compare your work with the source material I still get the feeling that your translation is pretty damn impressive and close to the authors' original style. Thanks again~
Hello. First I'd like to thank you for your incredible work translating Baccano. You are awesome =). And secondly I have a question. There is supposed to be a mini novel entitled "Baccano! 1931? Great Punk Railroad Revisited" from the drama cd or something along thouse lines... Do you know what's in it? Is Another Junk Railroad an expansion of it (thus rendering it not worth noting)? And If it's not a bother could you share some knowlege about mini novels? I know that there are 2 more: "man in the killer" (I suppose vol 16 is a collected and expanded version of it) and "time of the oasis" that came with anime dvds. And something called "illusional first and last episode" (I think it tells Ronnie's story... but I may be wrong). Do you know anything about them? Thanks in advance.
From what I know, Another Junk Railroad is indeed an expansion of Grand Punk Railroad Revisited. The same goes for Man in the Killer, which got an expansion in the 16th novel.
As for Time of the Oasis, I think it covers the events that took place with Jacuzzi's gang during the Flying Pussyfoot incident, but from the POV of the cargo retrieval squad. There's something about the Runoratas and Claire's old friend Cookie in that story too, but I'm not too sure about it.
Finally, I have absolutely no idea what "Illusional First and Last Episode" is. All I know is that it's listed on Baka-Tsuki.
As for the Ronnie backstory, I think it's from a short story called Baccano! 300 B.C., but I wouldn't know where to go about finding it.
Thank you for this explanaition. I found scans of Another junk railroad here: http://www.wfeel.com/files/article/html/0/234/25057.html And seeing as they contain illustrations from Revisited I belive that you are right. The only sad thing is that illustrations that were previously color spreads are now black and white and the picture with Clair and Graham facing off seems to be missing entirely.
And I found what seems to be a chinese transcript of 300 b.c. story: http://www.wfeel.com/files/article/html/0/234/24743.html Sadly I don't know chinese but I belive the person who translates Alice in jails at Baka-Tsuki does so from chinese... so maybe one day we'll see it translated to english =).
Anyway thank you again and keep up your amazing work!
Hello there! Yesterday I got to see the secret episode from the ds game myself and decided to make a little pdf of your translation. http://www.filefactory.com/file/23srvdobcfdr/n/Baccano_1931_-_The_Grand_Punk_Railroad_-_Secret_Episode.pdf Bassically I just added sprites from the game so that you could see character's expressions while reading. I also made some slight editing of your original script (some small changes that I thought were appropriate)... hope you don't mind it...
And after seeing the amount of narration that was in this episode I really hope that some day someone would translate it too...
I gotta say from what I've read about you in your Baccano rants, you bastard! You get to know Korean and Japanese!? My dream langauges! Unfair! ~Sarcasm Must of been tough to learn. I'm studing Japanese now for a year or so and I still can't speak it much less read it. Good on ya for all this work translating. Must be fun...
I can't thank you enough for your hard work and excellent translations. Baccano has quickly become one of my all-time favorites! Please keep up the great work. :)
Thank you so much for translating the Baccano novels :D Will you, by any chance, be translating the Peter in Chains volume? Or might you perhaps know someone who's translating it? Thank you ^^
Untuned strings stated that he won't translate it due to incredible amount of crazy talk coutesy of Graham, Christopher and Poet.
Anon Spore is translating entire 1934 arc (currently finishing Alice in Jails Prison episode)so eventually he will get to translating Peter Pan in chains. Here's a link to his blog: http://anonspore.blogspot.com/
I don't know if Baka-Tsuki's translator has any plans to translate Peter Pan in Chains though. But you can also check for updates over here: http://www.baka-tsuki.org/project/index.php?title=Baccano&redirect=no
Thank you for all your hard work! I'm not sure what to say that hasn't already been said, but many many fans out there are looking for Baccano! translations and you are just an amazing person for doing all of this for your love of the series.
I was hoping for Gakuen Kino manga translations with low expectations, but I never expected anyone would be dedicated enough to translate the novels! Thank you so much, it's really a huge treat to be able to read about Kino as both a traveler and a mysterious bishoujo gun fighter rider.
Thanks so much for your Baccano translations! I've enjoyed reading them immensely up til now, and I can't wait to read the rest of Whilesmile! Seriously, thanks!! c:
thank you very much for the translations of baccano 1705! XD yahoo!
